Unmaking the pyramid

 

 

Early 16th century produced many of the greatest thinkers of the Chosun dynasty. Indeed, reformists of the time had much to think hard about, in their fierce struggle against the powers-that-be. The seasoned reactionaries were masters of tricks and plots. Politics today is no different. While reformists are bound by a sense of moral justice, reactionaries resort without hesitation to the shadiest tactics such as lies, cheatings and fake news. Supported by various organizations, the media and foreign powers, reactionaries cunningly manipulate all kinds of information and misinformation. In one of the cleverest schemes, a reactionary wrote some words on a tree leaf with honey. When bugs ate away the sweet part, a conspiracy message involving the reformist leader appeared on the leaf for the King to see.

(16세기 초반에 조선 시대의 대표적인 사상가들이 결집되어 있다는 사실은) 훈구 세력과의 치열한 사상 투쟁을 증거하고 있습니다. 그러나 훈구 척신 세력들은 절대로 만만하지 않습니다. 노회한 권모술수에 개혁 사림들이 백전백패합니다. 이것은 현대 정치에서도 예외가 아닙니다. 물론 언론이나 사회의 여러 조직들을 장악하고 외세의 지원을 업고 있기 때문이기도 하지만 개혁파가 도덕적 정의만으로 승부하려고 하는 것에 반해서 보수 우파들은 동원하지 않는 전략전술이 없습니다. 엄청난 기만과 정보를 동원합니다. 기묘사화 때도 훈구파들이 잎사귀에다 꿀물로 주초위왕走肖爲王이라 쓰고 벌레가 파먹게 해서 그걸 임금한테 갖다 보이게 했다고 합니다.
