A mile-odd length of the Berlin Wall is preserved along the bank of the Spree. The surface of the wall is filled with drawings and writings that depict the pains of division and the joys of unification. They testify to the agonies and sacrifices of the German people during the years of division. I strolled along the wall, reading some of them.

"A man's thought, like a bird's flight, is free." It recounts to me the futility of trying to divide the World. Even if they appear to have divided the land, they will never be able to divide the air. Somebody has written in Korean: "We too will be one." [Shenzi]

To a snail, the flight of a sparrow may appear to be free. But is it really free? While we are not allowed to fly, we are unable to perceive fully how gravity works. The flight is not guaranteed by the removal of the cage only. The 'will' to fly, amongst other things, is also required to take us off into the air. [Orun]
