Scholarship is not sitting at the table, reading texts and underlining points to memorize. It is standing on it, trying to look beyond the texts and think more widely. The table is only a platform for the scholarship.

 

The table is a device for injecting the currently prevailing ideology into your mind. "Independence of mind" is achieved by stepping on it. Then you can start anew. Change and resistance will become possible.
