A Lesson of Harmony

 

Each with its distinct shape and beauty, boulders and rocks in Man-mul-sang(All Creation Hills) together create a grand symphonic harmony. People say that the hills are a miniature model of the whole world, but I rather see in it a reflection of the coming age. The notion loomed in my mind while I was enjoying the splendid view. Small and large rocks, round and square boulders, everyone was contributing to the wondrous beauty of the scene in its peaceful way. I found in the valley a fresh lesson to the people of our time.  A lesson of peace, harmony and respect for diversity, to a world where the weak is harassed by the strong and the small is oppressed by the big. 

 

 

수많은 형상의 바위들이 저마다의 아름다움으로 오케스트라와 같은 웅장한 화음을 이뤄내고 있습니다. 만물상이 세상의 초안이었다고 하지만 나는 이곳에서 21세기의 초안을 보았습니다. 바라보기에도 정말 이렇게 빼어난 경치지만 저는 또 한편 그런 생각을 해요.  여기보시는 것처럼 큰 바위든 작은 바위든 또는 뾰족한 바위든 둥근 바위든 모든 바위가 다 저마다의 아름다움을 가지고 같이 평화롭게 공존하고 있다는 것, 이건 만물상이 우리시대에 새로운 교훈으로 우리들을 가르치는 게 아닌 가 그런 생각을 갖습니다. 강자가 약자를 누르고 큰 나라가 작은 나라를 억압하는 힘의 시대에 차이를 존중하고 다양성을 인정하는 평화와 공존의 가르침이 만물상 안에 있습니다.
