The integrity of a person's life can be told from the way it contains the world that he lived. A life evading from the pains of one's times cannot be seen as an honest one. Not to mention those who take advantage of others' sufferings to elevate themselves.
A man's fate cannot be detached from that of his people. Mandela in South Africa. Che in Latin America. Yu Gwan-sun in colonial Korea. No matter if you are chairman of a big business, a nameless laborer, or a working girl in a brothel, there is no way your life can keep from being affected by the fate of your society. Though successes and failures of individual farings can be assessed in varying degrees, the fate of any Korean man cannot be wholly separated from that of the nation. It is so dictated by the nation's history.

한사람의 일생이 정직한가 정직하지 않은가를 준별하는 기준은 그 사람의 일생에 담겨있는 시대의 양이라고 할수 있습니다. 시대의 아픔을 비켜 간 삶을 정직한 삶이라고 할 수 없으며 더구나 민족의 고통을 역이용하여 자신의 삶을 높여 간 삶을 정직하다고 할 수 없음은 물론입니다.
개인의 팔자는 민족의 팔자와 결코 무관할 수 없습니다. 남아공의 만델라의 팔자, 라틴 아메리카의 체 게바라의 팔자,식민지 조국과 유관순의 팔자, 위로는 그룹 총수의 팔자에서부터 아래로는 이름 없는 노동자와 창녀촌의 영자에 이르기까지 개인의 팔자 속에는 어김없이 민족의 팔자가 깊숙이 들어와 있습니다.개인의 실패나 성공도 정도의 차이는 있지만 민족의 팔자와 결코 무관할 수 없는 것이 우리의 삶이고 우리 민족의 역사입니다.
