I have some confidence in the saying; "Great dexterity leads to clumsyness.(大巧若拙)". Clumsyness is greatly valued in calligraphy. The most advanced stage of calligraphy is sougt in clumsiness, rather than in dexterity.

 

The last work by Kim Jeong-hi, written three days before his death, was the signboard of Bong-eun Temple containing two characters "版殿". Owing to the humble and simple touches, it is esteemed as one of the best works by the master.

 

"Restoring the Child" is the utmost stage of calligraphy, people say. Returning to your childhood. Freeing yourself from all artificial formalities and adroitness. A stage where even principles are discarded without any fuss. [Shenzi]
